PC won't boot. No messages or beeps. Post a Reply
From: Jane on 12/16/2002
My computer was working fine yesterday. This morning when I turn it on, it displays the E-machines logo on the monitor which is the first thing it usually does. But then, instead of going through POST, it just sits there. Doesn't run through memory check or try to access the drives, printer, etc. No beeps, no messages, nothing else. Please help!

Unplug all USB devices and try again.

It may be a defective USB port. I had that happen on my home computer.

If there are no messages or beeps, then it is related to something that loads early in the computer's power on self test. This could be the power supply, motherboard, cpu. Also check your cords and connections. You could also try resetting the BIOS if you have a reset option on the board.

Can you get into safe mode?
If the computer will not get past the post then its usually a hardware problem best left to a service engineer.
