From: Sharon on 10/30/2002
Hi,

Everytime I close out my outlook and error messages pops up saying outlook has caused an error in kernal32.dll.

Also when sending and receiving emails, a network password box pops up asking me to reinter my username and password. Can you help?

do not use outlook for e-mail, it lets viruses through real easy and causes all kinds of problems.
Eudora is good and very reliable try download.com or qualcomm.com

Go ahead and do a repair on office 2000 and post back if it did not clear up the problem (heck, post back and let me know if it did!).

If the antivirus software removal stopped the message box from appearing, asking for a password, then I am under the impression that the software might have damaged some Outlook files.

I could be wrong, but it is a start. There are other possiblities so don't feel all is lost if this does not work.

You might consider using Norton's Antivirus 2003 solution. I know that it is $50, but the virus definition subscription is for an entire year and is only 5 or 10 bucks every year to keep it going. At least you will feel more confident about working on your computer.

Thanks for the information.

Ok.. I am running MS Outlook XP. WIN ME is my operating system. I am running grisoft.. www.grisoft.com it is a free version antiviral software..

I did uninstall grisoft, but I am still getting the error message "outlook has cause an error in kernel32.dll".

Looking forward to your response. Thanks

I am going to need a little more information to correctly diagnose this issue. For example, I am going to need your version of Outlook and what operating system that you are running.

Also, are you running a firewall or antiviral software and what exact brand.

I am taking a guess that you are running Zone Alarm (free version). If this is true, don't bother replying. Simply uninstall the software and invest in the pro version or Norton firewall 2003. I usually don't give harsh instructions to go to another software or hardware but Zone Alarm (free version) is not for the average user.

I am about 75% sure that the two problems are related. The password box usually comes up when it is unable to establish connection with your email server (pop3 or smtp). If you have normal internet connection through your browser, this would indicate that something is attempting to block the communication. I would guess that it is Zone Alarm and you accidentily blocked the SMTP and/or POP3 port(s).

Look forward to your response to fix your problem. I cannot be sure that it is Zone Alarm until I get a little more information.
