PLEASE HELP! I can't run any executable files Post a Reply
From: Adam on 10/24/2002
System: Windows 98 SE, Pentium II, 128m ram

Whenever I open a .exe file I get this message:

PROGRAM caused an invalid page fault in
module PROGRAM.EXE at 016f:xxxxxxxx. (-016f: shows up EVERY time)

This happens everytime I open a .exe file meant for installation or file extraction (zip extractors have "corrupted headers"), but doesn't seem to affect programs previously installed. What's going on? I desperately need to fix this, so I can install new software. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Can you give us a few examples of the FULL error message? That would better help us diagnose what is going on.

Most likely, you have a video card issue. Try reinstalling/upgrading the video card and trying lower resolutions/color bit/graphic acceleration combinations to avoid the problem. The 016F type memory address is usually associated with a bad driver/card.

If you are getting error messages associated with .dll and Kernel32, then you have another issue and can post back for another suggestion.

Hope this helps a little.
