crashes when attempting to open My Computer, or Ne Post a Reply
From: Ethan on 11/07/1999
If I open My Computer, and then try to open it again, before navigating to anything inside it, I get an error, and I have to 'Restore My Active Desktop.'

This doesn't happen if I say, open My Computer, click on 'C drive' and then open My computer

If I change the 'Folder Options' to web style, it is worse; it crashes whenever I click on anything inside My Computer.

What would be the typical cause of something like this? I can replicate it consistantly, and can avoid it, but need to fix it. Would it be a registry problem or a .dll problem. Thanks for any help

Upgrade to Win 98 if you haven't already. If you have, then run the windows install again and it should install "fresh" DLL's.

I can say that most of the weird problems I had with Win 95 went away with 98 and I haven't had to reload it yet (knock on wood!). Figure you have to pay $80 more for a proper working version of Win 95 (it's now called 98).
