every time i boot my machine it automatically goes into a surface sweep i have waited 4 hrs and when it gets to 96% it wont go any farther. also after 3-5 hrs of use the motherboard will start clicking and the hard drive light will go on. then the mouse locks up and everything stops . it will continue clicking for 5-12min then i will get a blue screen (cannot write to drive c:) i will hit enter and it return normal or sometimes reboots . whats wrong please help?

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem. Trim the system back to only the boards necessary to boot and see what's wrong. You never know if it's your motherboard or some card that's screwing things up.

The other thing I can think of is take a old (smaller) drive and run that to see if it's hardware or maybe the hard drive.

See how that goes. The idea is to do one step at a time.
