Okay now for the Intel (R) Boot Agent Version 4.0.22

1.Turn off your computer
2. Restart your computer
3. Watch the monitor as it restarts
4.As soon as you see an instruction stating press ctrl+S, have your fingers upon the ctrl and s key and and immediately press down those two keys on your keyboard together.
5. This will bring you to a screen.
6. At the bottom of the screen it will tell you to pick the remote boot
protocol, which will only take you to a setup menu which you DO NOT WANT,
and will only get you that much more confused.
7. Use the down arrow to select/highlight the Bios Boot which is printed directly underneath the remote boot protocol.
8. Once the Bios selection is highlighted, click F4.
9. Then the computer begins action upon it's own and your computer should be up and running again.
10. Write this down so the next time your computer crashes, you don't get into a panic or become overly frustrated.

This is what I did and it worked for me.

My computer is up and running once again.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

PXE 2.1 Build 083 (Wfm 2.0) RPL V2.73
Boot Agent Version 4.0.22
IBM computer
Microsoft Windows XP
Browser: Mozilla Firefox

After you press the "ctrl" and "s" button at the same time and the
set up screen is displayed:

What is the correct selection(s) and key(s) to press when in the
Setup Menu, to properly reboot the computer?

When you need to select a remote boot protocol, what option(s)
should one choose to correctly reboot?

In what order are boot devices queried?

After choosing the appropriate selection(s)in the Setup Menu and the remote boot protocol, should one turn off the computer, wait any amount of time, then turn on the computer again;in order to get the computer rebooted effectively so the computer fully operates again?

After choosing the appropriate selection(s)in the Setup Menu and the remote boot protocol, will the specified action(s)stated; entirely correct and prevent the computer from crashing again?

What steps should one take to make sure the computer does not crash again?

Ah computers a rose with many thorns.

Please provide helpful guidance for me and all other(s) out there,
which face a similar predicament(troubles).

Merry Christmas!

Thank You!

Please help, I am not a computer wiz but I am having problems with a computer turning on. I turn on the computer and it goes immediately to the blue Intel screen and stays that way. I've let it sit there for 45 min . I push Esc and it goes to black screen where it says I can push F2 or F12 and I have tried both and it tries to load it both ways but again, it stays there for a long time. I've let it stay there a while on both to see if will go any further.
I have unplugged all the cords, tried it again. Same thing.
Can someone please tell me what I can try I don't know much about anything inside the tower.

when i pressed any one then it couldn't load my os it just restart again and same thing happend again n again.

Looks to me like it's trying to do a network boot. Turn off anything in bios where it mentions network boot or network startup or network load things like that.

A network boot is where it could boot up from a outside hard drive on another computer located on your network. Most people don't do this if it's just a home workstation with it's own hard drive.

I'm having the same problem now. It happened all the sudden. The I tried going to BIOS and changing the Boot Seq but to no avail. This PXE -E61 keeps happening and one thing I noticed is that my PC is not recognizing the HD.

Could someone please help me make this go away. Also..why would this have all the sudden happen?

Hi,
I have the same problem on a HP laptop, I get the PXE-E61, check cable error. I tried all the suggestions that I found on the Web (changing the boot order, removing the battery, removing the HDD). The BIOS I have has no option to disable NIC or LAN at all. One thing I have noticed (never tried though) is that the HDD has no jumper set to select it as master (I am planning to test this next).
If there is a problem with the HDD it is not repeatible as from time to time, if I let the system reboot on its own, after about 40 minutes it will boot-up ok. This will NOT guaranty that if I reboot again it will come up ...
Does anyone have any WORKING suggestions to this problem ? It is really annoying, I only have this laptop for 1 year and I didn't expect such things to happen so soon ...
The last solution will be taking it to the professional HP 'doctors' but I was really trying to avoid this :)

My T23 thinkpad has pheonix 4.0 release 6.0 and it goes straight to my password at the touch of any key(including function keys). I press escape(I then have to pause screen to see system config data- unpause and pause again to get the most annoying meesage I've ever had on a computer"Intel(R)Boot Agent Version 4.0.22 PXE 2.1 Build 083 (WFM 2.0)...initializing...-immediately after I get forced to my first password (no pause and takes under 4 seconds from pressing power to my password screen) I get a picture with a 1 above a cylinder to the left of a closed lock of equal height, followed by a flashing cursor.the previous owners password is followed immed..... now I just got it back from future shop(they failed to fix said i need to call IBM)somehow cant even get the first password now.ARGH

Thanks to Computerpilot for his advice on this (plus his reply to my post with the same issue elsewhere on this site). I've checked in BIOS and my computer is set to boot from HDD first. The issue on mine appears to be that the computer can't see the HDD, so instead tries to boot from FDD, CD and eventually network (hence the error). So the BIOS setup is actually fine, the error is confusing - the issue is with the Harddrive. If you can get into the BIOS, look in the HDD section, mine claims no internal HDD...

It has done this 4 or 5 times now and seems to 'fix itself' after an hour or so each time. I suspect a problem with the hard drive itself and will take it back to Toshiba when I'm next in my home country. I don't think there is an easy fix to this.
Jules.

Change your BIOS settings (F2, F8, DEL, etc. for menu right after you hit power button) to the defaults. This is caused by your computer attempting to boot from your network card. The proper boot order should be floppy, CDROM, harddrive.

Did you ever get a solution to this problem? Mine is doing the same. It did it once before and 'cured itself' - now it's doing it again.

Please e-mail me jules_seeley@hotmail.com if you have any thoughts / a solution. Thanks.
