Crashes caused after installing extra memory Post a Reply
From: John on 05/15/2000
I have recently installed an extra 32 meg (SDRam) of memory to my machine and am suffering an increase in crashes since. I am running win 98 on a 233 AMD K6. The memory was the same voltage, (3.3v) and 66 Mhz, and windows has recognised the new memory. Is there something else that I should have checked for compatability? Both banks of memory appear to work fine on their own so some compatability problem seems to be the most likely.

Cheers

Mixing 2 different brands could cause problems. If they are the same brand it could be CAS latency on the Chips, i.e. one could be CAS 3 and the other 2. Not an expert, just giving you something to work with.
