 MSGSRV32 error Post a Reply
From: Kelly on 06/19/2001
After reformatting my C drive and reinstalling most of my software I now get on shutdown first a grey "ignore" or "close" box, then a "MSGSRV32 has caused a GPF in module CM8330SB .DRV @ 0003:00000bfe" box. The SB part suggested the fault could be in my integrated sound device --- a C-Media SB16. Eventually found a site with updated drivers (Sndpatch.zip) and downloaded. But the error warnings still persist. Maybe after unzipping the files I didn't install them correctly. Any ideas? My OS comprises W98 (4.10.98), IE5.5, a MII333 MMX Cyrix CPU and a PC Chips TopGun mainboard.

: : I'm having a problem with the same message on startup. When I go to restart my computer (It starts loading windows) I get the message MSGSRV32 caused an exception 10H in module DEVCOM32.dll

: : I'm thinking it's something I did with Norton Utilities. I never got the message before I installed it.

: : Another strange thing is that if I shut off my computer for few minutes (10 min), it works again and I can load windows. Weird...

:
: I'm also having the same problem, however I don't have to wait 10 minutes --usually a re-boot or 2 after waiting a couple of seconds works. Somehow I think the
: problem is related to a USB disc reader I installed.
: I'm not absolutely sure ,but I don't think the problem
: existed prior to installingh the USB device.

: Any answers????????

Not sure what the problem is but I'm getting the same error after I installed my Sound Blaster Live Platium 5.1 card. It's really confusing. But i removed the flie to a different location and guess what Windows loads no porblem and everything works. I just get an error the a required .dll file is missing..

seeing that this is a cyrix chip....that's a possibility...but sometimes it's only the lousy fan that comes bundled. but i don't agree that those are the 2 most common reason.....most of the time it's software related.....esp. prog. implementing the com ports and sometimes tcpip(esp. mail) or other propriety output periperals.
