IEXPLORE Keeps Crashing Post a Reply
From: Frank on 08/08/2002
I've been using IE6 with no problems for some time now. I update the patches every time there is one, and have not had a problem until 3 weeks ago. I have made no system (hardware, software etc,) changes in 6 months, so I'm assuming that's not the problem.

ABout 3 weeks ago, and up to now, IE crashes after using it about 20-30 minutes. Every time, it never fails. The first message indicates there was a problem with IEXPLORE and will shut down. I click OK, then the screen turns black and I get a second message:

"Kernal32 caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:000075a2"

That last message only appears about 50% of the time. However, I always have to reboot my machine.

I'm running W98 SE with 128MB RAM and a 20GB HD. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

I had the same problem.
I have used your Avant Browser for way over a year now. I am very happy with Avant. Today I updated Avant Browser and I kept having a: IEXPLORE caused a general protection default in Module KRNL386.EXE a 0001:00004c41. Then my computer would crash down. I didn't have this problem until I did the upgrade. So I had to un install the newest version. AND go back to last newest version. I am lucky I had the executable still in my files. I don't seem to have the above problem now that I went back to the other version. I wrote Avant a letter and told them about what had happened. Maybe 6-14-04 is a buggy version, hopefully they will get on the ball and fix the newest version. So if you are using Avants newest version which is: Avant Browser 9.02 Build 031, 06.09.2004. Just un install it, and that should stop the problem.

Hope this helps,
Gypsy

...error krnl386.exe 0001:000075a2
Go to safe mode and go to
start accessory system tools and run check system files
you'll find dammaged files just replace with the same ones
it shoud work

for next error 0028:00000003 and 0167:xxxxxxxx
uninstall softwares that can use the last drive or any app. you installed.

second ,and it take to me some time to find it, run doctor watson and see in kernel drivers, the ones coorresponding to the softwares you delete before. take theses "*.vxd" files to another folder in case you will need them. For file that that are in double one whith *.bak and *.vxd, rename the .bak to .vxd

I hope you understand my poor anglish and that this will help you,

My situation is with a Vaio laptop. It has a 12GB HDD partitioned into 8GB and 4GB. I recently filled the 8GB patition and have been doing alot of work moving files around preparing them for burning to CD.

The error itself came from EXPLORER (not IEXPLORE) but was otherwise the same (krnl386.exe 0001:000075a2).

The machine has Win98 SE, and only 64MB RAM.

Just trying the "repair explorer" suggestion...

Replace the RAM & re-install OS. Bad RAM has caused this problem & depending on how long it has been going on for.. you may or may not have to re-install your OS.

I'm having similar troubles with IE6 on WinXP. Mine crashes every 10-20 minutes, causing an error in ntdll.dll

Does anybody know a fix for this?

Make that three. I have the exact same situation. IE6 on Win98se with 128MB ram. Consistantly update, but now get the blue screen of death with messages such as:

"IExplore caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:000075a2"

"MSGSRV32 caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:0000ac95"

or

"OE has occurred at 0187:BFF9DFFF"

Has anyone found a permanent fix?

Hi!

I get the same errors (I was searching for a more permanant fix when I found your posting). I find that if you go into Control Panel--Add/Remove Programs and highlight the entry for IE 6.0 and tools, then hit add/remove, a dialog box opens. One of the options is "REPAIR". It will fix troubles with the browser for a while. Still, I am looking for a fix that will last for more than a few days.

This may also be proof of one of Murphy's Laws: "If you improve something enough times it won't work any more." Good luck!
