From: chris on 07/16/2001
can't boot (win 98, updated last fall/winter, IE 5.5, pentium 450) windows flashes the task bar then the aqua back drop is all thats left, task manager shows only wslaunch running but when clicked windows says its not responding. ran scan disk and scanreg both reported probs the first time i ran then but since then nothing. i re-installed windows about 3 times with the same result "corrupt shdoc401.dll", any suggestions are appreciated?

(In English: delete abnormal long file name extensions (more than 20 Characters) in Registry under Hkey Classes Root, these begin with a DOT e.g. .avi .zip)
