i recently installed win 2k and then service pack 2. it worked okay for about an hour and then explorer.exe crashed constantly, or rather the prgram just failed and exited back to the desktop, both when browsing the HD and when booting up iexplore.exe to browse the internet. when explorer.exe would crash it would reinitalize the start bar, etc. i had to go onto another computer just to look up how to solve this ridiculous problem.

I am attaching two articles that may be helpful. To work around this problem: 1. If you installed Internet Explorer 5.5 before you upgraded to Windows 2000, re-install Internet Explorer 5.5. If you installed Internet Explorer 5.01 or earlier before you upgraded to Windows 2000, install Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 1 or Internet Explorer 5.5. To obtain Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 1 or Internet Explorer 5.5, view the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htmIf you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 to Microsoft Windows 2000 with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 installed, most of the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 files are replaced during the upgrade process. After you perform the upgrade, you will have Internet Explorer version 5 on your computer. However, some of the Internet Explorer 5.5 files may remain, which can lead to unexpected results. The correct installation sequence is as follows: 1. Remove Internet Explorer 5.5. 2. Upgrade to Windows 2000. 3. Reinstall Internet Explorer 5.5. : i recently installed win 2k and then service pack 2. it worked okay for about an hour and then explorer.exe crashed constantly, or rather the prgram just failed and exited back to the desktop, both when browsing the HD and when booting up iexplore.exe to browse the internet. when explorer.exe would crash it would reinitalize the start bar, etc. i had to go onto another computer just to look up how to solve this ridiculous problem.
