Instant Messenger shows illegal operation message |

I was in Word Whomp. Intermission came up, my daughter signed on IM and I clicked on it, said hello and when she was answering the error message came up that I had performed an illegal operation in MSMSSG. It closed and I cannot get IM back now. It happened before. Why is this happening!!! Also, I recently installed NAV, so I know I don't have a virus.

Hi.I have MSN Messanger.When i sign in everything goes well. then when i try to talk to someone a window pops up saying program has commited illegal operation then kicks me off.please reply with a fix.

For users with DSL or Cable modem (high speed internet) you absolutely NEED a firewall. This is NOT a recommendation. You may have been a victim of a Trojan. These are NOT always detected by antivirus software as they are always new ones that are written and typically only affect one or few users. They can vary greatly! If you are only using a modem, then it is unlikely that it was a Trojan, but still possible.I would attempt a reinstall of MSN IM. First, remove it from the system (control panel, add/remove programs), then reinstall it. If this does not work, then post back and I will try to get another solution. Next time, include your Operating system and define 'it' in "I clicked on it".
