 WAOL ERRORS Post a Reply
From: Tom on 10/14/2002
Ever since we installed Version 7.0 we are now constantly getting "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down----
This happens very quickly when trying to access the Sports news. We have a Dell Dimension XPS 233.
Whats a mother to do to correct this annoying problem?

Hi! I also have had a lot of waol causes errors on kernel32.dll or unknown.
I tried everything to fix it. I even tried technical service and they didn't even know what waol was.
I couldn't print off the web sites without getting errors.
I finally switched my email address and I haven't had a problem all
night.
Try this and see if it works for you.
Good Luck!

I would go ahead and remove the AOL application from your PC and then do a new install (you can get free copies at your local computer store).

"Waol has caused an error in kernel32.dll" is displayed after AOL freezes
and is closed. Am using ME, IE, & AOL. I have reinstalled all several times and run all Norton tests. Thanks; Bill @ wpozyw@cs.com

If you have reinstalled the AOL software and are still getting this problem, check the error info to see if the address (i.e - 0000:6a9010b3) is always the same. If it is, you could have a memory problem. You can run boot checks on your memory, it involves editing your registry - search for advise on that in google.
Another thing you could try is going into msconfig start-up folder and taking the ticks out of everything apart from "scan registry, system tray and the 2 LoadPowerProfiles" (these will not be in win2000 and winXP, so just untick everything)and rebooting your pc. If this has sorted the problem then one of the programs you have shut down is the problem.
Could always try repairing or upgrading Internet Explorer as well, AOL customises this and uses it for it's browser.
A fresh install of windows is a certain fix.

Did you attempt to reinstall AOL? Completely uninstall AOL 7.0 from your system. You have the option to save all your setting, I would do so.

Then install AOL v7.0 again.

This usually fixes most problems with AOL waol.exe error messages.

Feel free to post back if this does not work.
