my pentium III 500MHz running win98SE keep locking up. I can still move the mouse but cant do anything with it. It does this most often just as the systray is filling up with my various programs at boot up, but it also can seem to do it completely at random. I also have a network using internet connection sharing from my computer for my ADSL modem, and even when my computer locks up the other computers on the network can still access the internet with no problems. Also if I press a few key the internal speaker will start beeping with each key press. Someone help becuase i havent actualy shut my computer down in ages cause it does this all the time

my first piece of advice would be to reboot the PC, really and truly, so your memory is fresh and clean. under Start Programs Start Up, remove any unnecessary programs from there---every program in the world should not be opening at the boot up of your PC. Also, those that only show up in the Sys Tray not in the Start Up folder can usually be rightclicked and disabled. you want all those programs running??? more RAM is needed.
