Within one minute of a normal Win 98 bootup I get the above fatal exception error. Noticed this error was previously posted by alan but cannot find any response or solution offered. IS there one ???

Try installing a standard display adapter instead of the driver for your video card, then see if the problem goes away.

Same problem on a Dell Optiplex GX 200 Win98 SE with no screen saver set at all. Running Norton AntiVirus 5.0. I was using Eudora 4.3 right before the crash. Also have Netscape 4.75. Ran WindowsUpdate from IE 5.50.

I was experiencing the same problem on a Win98 SE machine with Norton AV installed, IE version 6.0 with the December cumulative patch for IE installed (Q313675), and a plethora of Adobe apps and office suites.

I booted it up and let it sit at the network prompt, then went to the server to back it up over the network. After 10-15 minutes, got the above blue screen. Rebooted the machine, left it at the network login prompt again, then started backup again. The screen saver kicked in and it was jumbled looking.

Booted up one last time, this time logging in, and I turned off the screen saver. Never happened again.

Screen savers are TSR's (terminate and stay resident) programs and have been the problem to many people's machines. Keep this in mind when troubleshooting problems.

Un-install everything that you added to windows, like norton and other "cool" stupid stuff you installed. Get rid of all that crap!
Then re-install windows on a weekly basis (like I do all the time), let MS know you are so happy with their crap and keep buying their products.
Oh, did I say scan for viruses?

: Hey has anyone found the soulution?

Laurie, look at my two posts above yours... I am having the same error at a different point and have listed extensive details... if you answer the questions I had for other people in my second post maybe we can find out what is causing this.

Hopefully, Alan will do the same.
