I get: Outlook Express FolderSync Window Class is Post a Reply
From: Jacqueline on 12/09/2001
I tried to open an excel attachment (from a reliable source)using OE 5.5. I was unable to open the attachment, and had to shut down OE. Ever since, when I try to shut down (windows 98), even if I didn't open OE, I get this not responding box. I have done searches for this error on the microsoft site, but nothing comes up.

Thanks

I had had a same problem under the environment before,

OS:Windows XP
Outlook Express 6

But I could soluved this at last!
Please try below the sequence.

1.Shut down only OE.
2.search the "folders.dbx" among Primary drive(normaly C drive)
3.And find it,rename the file name, for example "folders.old"
4.After Starting OE,and clik the send and recieve command.

Thanks for Regard

I had similar problem, but there are 2 dialog boxes came out at the time I shut down the computer. The first dialog titled "End Program - dialog box demo." and the second dialog titled "End program - outlook express foldersync window class." I deleted all messages in outlook express, and the second dialog is gone. But the first one still here. I used SPY tool to find out which process is running. It is C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CSRSS.EXE. I tried to delete it but I wasn't allowed to do that. Any ideas what's the possible solutions?? Yes, the system is very sluggish now. I don't think it's outlook express problem anymore. I hope I don't need to re-install windows from scratch. Thanks

I have the same problem, only in Windows XP Pro. I think the problem (in my case) could have something to do with MSN Messenger Helper from HelperStudio. I got this problem when I uninstalled MSN Messenger Studio. Could be it messed up Messenger? If MSN/Windows Messenger is installed, it connects to Outlook Express (in XP, at least). So, it may well cause some trouble with OE... I had no luck in tracking up any solution, so I hope this post can give someone some ideas on finding it. I have no problems, other than when I shut down the computer. It's a bit annoying, because I have to "kill" the FolderSync error windows before shutting down...

I couldn't open OE so the 'compact files' solution didn't work. I found the Knowledge base article in MSDN that fixed it. Basically you've got to delete the 'identify' for OE in the registry

I get this as well.

Outlook Express FolderSync Window Class: msimn.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x702301c9" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be read.

Debugging it, I'm in WININET! at the above address (from user32 from comctrl32 user32 wininet MSOE)

It's definately a problem with OE 5.5 on my W2k system. No idea what happened to cause it.

I had the same problem. I solved it by compacting my folders while Working Offline. The entire procedure is at http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm#compact

According to Tom C. Koch (owner of tomsterdam.com), the problem was a corrupt Folders.dbx. Whatever the case, compacting the folders solved the problem. Bonus: OE now loads much faster!

I don't know whether FolderSync is an application--I have one called FolderMatch.

Foldersync is a freeware program from kalab.com at this link: http://www.kalab.com/freeware.htm I suspect you or some earlier user had downloaded and installed it and it is causing conflicts while it attempts to do some file comparisons. It's your choice, but I'd remove it (Add/Remove in Control Panel). The problem is not with Outlook Express.
